WHO’S DRIVING THE REVOLUTION? YOUR 2026 GRID GUIDE

The engines are different, the cars are lighter, and the grid has expanded to 22 seats. As we prepare for the first roar of the 2026 season, the paddock is a mix of legendary champions, hungry rookies, and high-stakes returns. Here is the breakdown of who is behind the wheel for the most anticipated season in a generation.

THE FRONT RUNNERS: REIGNING CHAMPS & RIVALS

  • The Number 1: After a historic 2025 title win, Lando Norris returns to McLaren to defend his crown. Alongside him, Oscar Piastri is looking to turn his 2025 “near-miss” into a 2026 triumph.

  • The Redemption Hunt: Max Verstappen stays at Red Bull, but with a new look. Having lost the #1 to Norris, Max has switched to the iconic #3 and is partnered by the explosive young talent Isack Hadjar, who moves up from the sister team.

  • The Silver Arrows: Mercedes officially enters the post-Hamilton era with George Russell as the team leader. All eyes, however, are on his 19-year-old teammate Kimi Antonelli, who enters his sophomore season with the weight of Italy’s hopes on his shoulders.

THE SCUDERIA’S SUPER-TEAM The “Transfer of the Century” is now in its second year. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc continue their partnership at Ferrari. After a challenging 2025, the Tifosi are betting everything on the 2026 technical reset to bring the Prancing Horse back to the top step.

THE RETURN OF THE VETERANS: CADILLAC’S DEBUT The 11th team has arrived, and they’ve chosen experience over youth. Cadillac makes its F1 debut with a combined 500+ race starts between Valtteri Bottas and Sergio “Checo” Perez.

“This team isn’t just about showing up; it’s about building a legacy,” says Bottas. With Ferrari power in the back, keep an eye on these two to disrupt the midfield order.

THE NEW BLOOD & THE OUTSIDE BETS

  • The Only Rookie: Arvid Lindblad is the sole newcomer to the grid this year. Joining Liam Lawson at Racing Bulls, the 18-year-old Brit is the youngest driver on the grid and a product of the relentless Red Bull Junior factory.

  • Audi’s Arrival: The Sauber name is gone, replaced by the German powerhouse Audi. They are led by the ever-reliable Nico Hulkenberg and Brazilian sensation Gabriel Bortoleto.

  • The Aston Powerhouse: Fernando Alonso (now 44!) continues his journey with Aston Martin alongside Lance Stroll, now powered by the highly-anticipated Honda engine works deal.
